SUN VALLEY, Nev. (AP) - A Sun Valley man convicted of domestic battery has been sentenced for witness intimidation.

KTVN-TV in Reno reports (https://bit.ly/1WLbbvT) that the Washoe County District Attorney’s Office announced Sunday that 27-year-old Andrew Mikel Kearney received a five-year prison sentence.

The sentence will run consecutive to a 180-day jail term for a related misdemeanor domestic battery case.

Prosecutors say Kearney sprayed a female victim in the face with bear mace in January 2015.

He was subsequently arrested.

County sheriff’s deputies say they later learned Kearney had called the victim from jail several times.

They say audio shows Kearney making intimidating statements and threatening to file criminal charges against her for filing a false police report.
