TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Police say a home invasion led to an exchange of gunfire and a flood at a Tucson apartment complex.

Sgt. Pete Dugan says officers were called just after 5:30 a.m. Sunday about a possible burglary.

According to detectives, more than one armed suspect kicked in an apartment door.

KGUN-TV in Tucson reports (https://bit.ly/1Vf7kpn ) the occupants inside the apartment also had firearms and several shots were fired.

Dugan says one suspect was hit and is in the hospital with serious injuries.

He is being monitored by officers.

Police say a bullet hit a water main, causing apartments below to become flooded.

Authorities did not identify the suspects or say how many entered the home.

But they believe the home was not a random target.
