BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) - The Argentine football association has extended its “condolences” to the family of a soccer player who died when he was accidentally struck in the head in a regional match on Sunday in northeastern Argentina.

Micael Favre, who was playing for the local club San Jorge, died of injuries after he was struck in the head by the knee of an opposing player with Defensores de Colon.

Local media reports said Favre was 24.
