HILLMAN, Mich. (AP) - A public boat launch in Michigan’s northern Lower Peninsula has reopened after being shut down temporarily for repairs.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources says Monday that the boating access site at Fletcher Pond in Alpena County is back open.

It was closed for a few weeks while staff replaced damaged ramp planks and built a new skid pier.

Fletcher Pond is known for its pike, bass and perch. Many geese and ducks use the pond as a resting area and nesting platforms attract ospreys.
