ATLANTA (AP) - Authorities say a suspicious package that shut down an intersection in northwest Atlanta may have been artwork.

Atlanta police Officer Kim Jones tells local media that authorities noticed the package early Monday after responding to a fire in the Little 5 Points neighborhood.

Officers saw smoke coming from the package. Homeland Security and the Atlanta SWAT bomb squad were called to the scene.

Jones says an investigation showed the package was a mailbox with a radio attached to it. Electrical cords had been wrapped around the mailbox, which contained another small radio and some paper. All of the items were painted blue.

The package was disassembled.

Jones says the bomb squad believes the package may have been some type of artwork.

The incident caused several road closures.
