CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (AP) - A woman has been given 30 days in jail for three crimes connected to a collision that killed an off-duty Black Hawk County sheriff’s deputy.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports (https://bit.ly/1RkjJkJ ) that 31-year-old Shawna Flippo also was sentenced Thursday to a year of probation and 50 hours of community service. She was found guilty after a nonjury trial of having no insurance, driving while suspended and failure to yield at a stop sign.

She was charged after the Aug. 4 collision in Waterloo between her sport utility vehicle and a motorcycle driven by 34-year-old Timothy Petersen.
