GOODYEAR, Ariz. (AP) - A man shot and wounded by Goodyear police after he opened fire on officers has been released from a hospital and booked into jail.

Goodyear police announced Monday that 25-year-old King Justice Allah is being held on five counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, one count of false emergency reporting and other charges.

Officers were dispatched May 13 after a call of an injured person.

When police arrived on the scene, they reported finding Allah lying on a sidewalk with self-inflicted lacerations and saying he had a gun and a bomb in his possession.

Officers were trying to negotiate with him before he fired off shots.

Police later discovered Allah’s weapon was a CO2 cartridge gun that can’t be distinguished from a real gun until it’s examined closely.
