MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) - Montana men’s basketball coach Travis DeCuire has promoted assistant Chris Cobb to associate head coach.

Cobb joined the coaching staff at Montana shortly after DeCuire was hired in May 2014. DeCuire announced the appointment Monday, saying Cobb is a leader with a strong work ethic.

Cobb will continue to oversee recruiting for the Grizzlies and will continue working with the administration and admission departments and will take on a large role in scouting and player development.

Cobb came to Montana after four years as an assistant at Chico State.

Cobb takes over for Ken Bone, who resigned last month. Bone came to Montana after six years as head coach at Washington State. The final two years of his WSU contract, worth $1.7 million, were bought out when he was dismissed at the end of the 2013-14 season.
