WESTMINSTER, Vt. (AP) - Vermont State Police say a passenger has died in an off-road vehicle crash in Westminster.

Police say the driver, 24-year-old Andrew Ielpi, was operating the utility vehicle at a high rate of speed Sunday over a large mound that covered a culvert. He lost control of the vehicle. His passenger was ejected, struck a tree and later died. The 23-year-old passenger’s name has not been released. Both were from Westminster.

Police said Ielpi suffered minor injuries and faced a drunken driving charge; it wasn’t immediately known if he had a lawyer.

Police are investigating.
