BRISTOL, Conn. (AP) - Police say a woman was severely injured over the weekend when her motorcycle left the road and crashed into a wooded area in Bristol.

The accident occurred just before 6:30 p.m. Sunday when the woman’s motorcycle veered off Redstone Hill Road near Prestige Lane. The motorcycle crashed into the woods and the woman was thrown to the ground.

First responders found the victim lying on the side of the road with serious injuries to her chest. She was transported to a Hartford area hospital by Bristol EMS.

Police are withholding the woman’s identity until family members are notified.
