LUCEDALE, Miss. (AP) - A trial date has been set for a former George County jail nurse charged in an inmate’s death.

The Sun Herald reports (https://bit.ly/20pb72M) Carmon Sue Brannon is set to go to trial on Oct. 10 in the death of William Joel Dixon.

Dixon was found dead in his cell in September 2014.

Officials say Brannon, who is facing a manslaughter charge, is accused of causing Dixon’s death while failing to provide him with appropriate medical attention. His cause of death was not released.

Lucedale police had arrested Dixon on multiple charges including child endangerment and possession of a controlled substance.

Brannon is free on bond. The newspaper reports that her attorney, Calvin Taylor, couldn’t be reached for comment.
