ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - New patrol boats will be hitting the water from western New York to Long Island.

The nine vessels were paid for through a fund administered by the U.S. Coast Guard. The vessels will be used to enforce boater safety rules and navigation law.

The state Department of Environmental Conservation police and the state parks police of the Thousand Islands Region are among the recipients of the patrol vessels.

The other boats will go to the Lake George Park Commission, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department, the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Department, the Suffolk County Marine Bureau, the Town of Huntington Harbor Master and the Town of Southampton Bay Constable.
