BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Federal authorities in Baton Rouge say five people have been indicted in connection with an alleged heroin trafficking operation in New Orleans.

U.S. Attorney Walt Green in Baton Rouge said an indictment unsealed Monday names five suspects in the heroin ring operating out of the St. Roch (Rock) neighborhood.

Three men and two women are named in the indictment. All are charged with conspiracy to distribute heroin.

Green’s news release says the FBI, New Orleans police and the New Orleans Gang Task Force are involved in the investigation. Two Assistant U.S. Attorneys from Baton Rouge are working with the U.S. Attorney General’s Office in prosecuting the case.
