PHOENIX (AP) - A veteran of Maricopa County government has been appointed to the county manager’s post.

Joy Rich will succeed Tom Manos, who retired earlier this month.

Rich has been working for county government since 1997 and has served as director of planning and development and, most recently, as deputy county manager.

Maricopa County is home to more than 60 percent of the state’s population and employer to more than 13,000 workers.
