BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a western New York woman has pleaded guilty to fatally injuring her 5-month-old daughter.

Erie County prosecutors say 23-year-old Denay Foster pleaded guilty on Monday to first-degree manslaughter in the September death of Ver’Naylah Laventure. That charge was reduced from second-degree murder.

Authorities say the baby suffered blunt force trauma to her head at her mother’s Buffalo home. She died at a hospital after an unknown person brought her in.

Foster is scheduled to be sentenced in August. She faces a sentence of up to 25 years in a state prison.

Foster remains jailed without bail until her sentencing.
