NEW YORK (AP) - A 4-year-old boy has died after he fell down an elevator shaft at a parking garage in Brooklyn.

The accident happened at about 8 p.m. Wednesday at a private parking garage in Park Slope.

Police say the boy was with his parents when he fell through a gap between the elevator and the wall. They say he fell about 50 feet.

The boy was taken to Methodist Hospital. He died there Thursday.

The accident is under investigation.
