HICO, W.Va. (AP) - Authorities have arrested three people in connection with a staged robbery at a convenience store near Hico.

The Fayette County Sherriff’s Office says that officials arrested 19-year-old Marcus Briscoe, 18-year-old Kelly Morton and 22-year-old Carrie Evans in connection with Wednesday night’s incident.

After deputies responded to an armed robbery report Wednesday, the cashier told them that the suspect fled on foot.

After reviewing security footage, deputies noticed that the suspect and a female companion had been inside the store for a considerable period before the robbery.

Deputies say the cashier later admitted to faking the robbery.

Briscoe and Morton were arrested on charges of robbery and conspiracy to commit a felony. Evans, the store cashier, was booked on charges including filing a false report.

It’s unclear if they have attorneys.
