TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - Prosecutors say two jail guards in New Jersey are facing charges after an inmate had to be hospitalized with injuries.

NJ.com reports (https://bit.ly/1TBzJBg ) prosecutors confirmed complaints have been signed against two Mercer County Correction Center officers. The county prosecutor’s office declined to elaborate or identify the officers. More information is expected Thursday.

Authorities said last week they were investigating injuries to inmate Rafael Jardines, who was taken from the county jail to a Trenton hospital earlier this month.

Authorities haven’t disclosed what the injuries were or who caused them.

Jardines has been transferred to the Monmouth County Jail, where he’s being held on a federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer.
