PLYMOUTH, Utah (AP) - The Utah Highway Patrol is investigating the death of a 50-year-old who was struck by a car along the shoulder of U.S. Interstate 15 about 2 miles south of the Idaho line.

Sgt. Todd Royce says 50-year-old Allen Devaul of South Jordan was assessing damage to his own van from an earlier accident when he was hit and killed by another car about 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Royce says Devaul had lost control of his vehicle in rainy weather and slid into the highway’s median near mile marker 398 in Box Elder County.

While he was inspecting his car and taking pictures, another car started to hydroplane and spun into the median where it hit Devaul.

Royce says Devaul’s wife and her sister were traveling with him.

The accident remains under investigation.
