PHOENIX (AP) - The Latest on a shooting involving Phoenix police (all times local):

11:30 a.m.

Phoenix police say a suspect in a fatal shooting is hospitalized after being shot and wounded by a police officer during a confrontation about a half-mile from the original shooting site.

Sgt. Jonathan Howard says an officer shot the suspect when the suspect pulled out a gun after non-lethal means failed to stop him.

Howard said police had been looking for the suspect after he was seeing running from a home where a 31-year-old man was fatally shot Thursday morning.

Howard says witnesses told police that the suspect and the victim knew each other and that the suspect had a gun when he ran off.

No identities were released.

The first shooting occurred near 35th Avenue and Roeser Road and the second near Southern and 35th avenues.

9:10 a.m.

Phoenix police say a suspect was shot and wounded by police who had responded to a report of a shooting.

Sgt. Jonathan Howard says officers responded to a Thursday morning report of a shooting in which the victim has died. Howard says a suspect was later shot by police and is now being treated at a hospital.

No officer was injured. The shooting of the suspect occurred on the city’s south side, on the 3300 block of West Southern Avenue.

News helicopter video of the scene showed a police vehicle on a sidewalk with numerous other emergency vehicles parked on the street.

8:35 a.m.

Phoenix police say there’s been a shooting involving police.

A Police Department spokesman says details are sketchy about the Thursday morning incident.

Sgt. Jonathan Howard says initial reports indicate one suspect was injured but that no officer was injured.

News helicopter video of the scene showed a police vehicle on a sidewalk with numerous other emergency vehicles parked on the street.
