FLORENCE, Ala. (AP) - University of North Alabama President Ken Kitts is set to receive an almost $40,000 bonus.

The Times Daily reports (https://bit.ly/1TCcaZ4) the university’s governing board will give Kitts a $39,750 bonus after determining he satisfactorily met goals during his first year on the job. Kitts will also receive a 3 percent pay increase.

Kitts’s annual salary is $265,000.

UNA Trustee Simpson Russell led the committee that evaluated Kitts’s performance. He outlined in a memorandum seven goals the committee says Kitts satisfied, which included creating a more cohesive enrollment management plan and minimizing future tuition and fee increases.

UNA employees, not including the president, received a 3 percent pay increase in Sept. 2014. Kitts says it’s a priority for him to provide employees a salary adjustment in the coming fiscal year.
