HANAHAN, S.C. (AP) - Authorities are investigating after a 3-year-old boy died a week after he was found floating in a pool at a Hanahan apartment complex.

Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury tells local media outlets that Daimere George died at the Medical University of South Carolina Hospital in Charleston late Wednesday.

Salisbury says an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.

The child was found floating in the pool of the apartment complex May 18. Police say the pool was not open at the time.

Hanahan police, the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office and the State Law Enforcement Division are investigating.
