ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) - The city of Alexandria is preparing to take its SafeAlex program to the next level.

In late summer or early fall, the city will launch SafeAlex 2.0 focusing on crime prevention, quality of life, community health, volunteerism and neighborhood issues.

The city said in information about the program enhancements a prime goal is to “empower the citizens of Alexandria to reclaim their city from physical and moral decay.”

Although SafeAlex 2.0 will have several components, Mayor Jacques Roy tells The Town-Talk (https://townta.lk/1NRNleY) they are designed to work together to improve public safety.

Roy says the program will be designed to increase: effective use of crime-prevention tax dollars, quality of life in Alexandria, and public safety.
