BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Police have made an arrest in the shooting death of an East Feliciana Parish School Board member.

Baton Rouge Police report 19-year-old Jacquez Griffin, of Baton Rouge, was arrested Thursday on a charge of first-degree murder in the slaying of 34-year-old Broderick Brooks, of Jackson.

Multiple media outlets report police still don’t have a motive.

Two detectives found Brooks dead behind the wheel of his car just after 3:30 a.m. Monday, the engine still running. He had been shot several times.

Brooks was a well-known educator, community activist and pastor. He was member of the parish School Board and a publicist for RKM Primary Care in Clinton.

He is survived by his wife and three children. His father, Edward Brooks Sr., is a longtime East Feliciana Parish police juror.
