BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Two brothers have admitted to stealing more than $1.2 million in New York state tax collected at seven gas stations they owned in the Buffalo area.

The Stafford, Texas residents pleaded guilty to grand larceny Thursday in Erie County Court.

Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael Flaherty Jr. says Ilias and Latif Maredia stole $1.2 million in tax collected between 2008 and 2012.

They face a maximum of 8 1/3 to 25 years in state prison when they are sentenced in September.
