GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - Memorial Hospital in Gulfport is getting more than $2 million to expand its electrical generator capacity ahead of hurricane season.

U.S. Sen. Thad Cochran said in a news release Thursday the FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant will be help pay for the installation of two 2,250 kilowatt bi-fuel system generators to help provide the facility with a more reliable electricity supply.

The FEMA grant will cover 75 percent of the $3.1 million cost of the project.
