LOXLEY, Ala. (AP) - Alabama Department of Corrections officials say an inmate who escaped a work release site has been recaptured.

Department spokesman Bob Horton said in an emailed statement that 40-year-old Jeremy Martin was taken into custody Friday morning in south Alabama.

Horton says Martin was assigned to the Loxley Work Release Center and was reported missing on Monday.

Horton says Martin authorities working from a tip found Martin in a wooded area near Highway 12.

Officials say Martin was serving a 10-year sentence for manufacturing controlled substances and will face additional charges because of the escape.
