NEW YORK (AP) - Police say they have arrested the killer of a homeless man who was punched during a robbery in Queens and hit his head on the sidewalk.

The attack happened at 4:30 a.m. Thursday at a bus stop in Far Rockaway.

Police say 34-year-old D’Anthony Horton, of Hempstead, attacked 57-year-old Riccardo Cruz, who was homeless.

Prosecutors say Horton repeatedly punched Cruz in the face, knocking him unconscious. When Cruz regained consciousness, prosecutors say Horton kicked him in the face five more time before taking off Cruz’s sneakers and throwing one at his head.

Cruz was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Horton was arrested Friday on charges of second-degree murder and robbery. It wasn’t clear if he had an attorney who could comment on the charges.
