PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix police have released the identity of a man fatally shot before police located and shot a suspect in the initial shooting.

According to police, the man killed in the initial shooting Thursday morning was 31-year-old Martin Elias Tagaban.

The 34-year-old suspect shot once by police during an encounter about a half-mile from the initial shooting remains hospitalized and his identity hasn’t been released.

Police say witnesses told investigators that Tagaban and the suspect had argued before Tagaban was shot.

No officer was injured.
