IRONDALE, Ala. (AP) - A 23-year-old woman has died while swimming with friends in the Cahaba River.

Irondale police Det. Sgt. Michael Mangina tells news outlets that the woman jumped into the river Thursday afternoon from a rope swing and emerged clutching her chest. Her friends performed CPR but were unable to revive her.

Mangina says an autopsy will be performed on the woman to determine her cause of death.
