ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Authorities say three people were killed after a head-on highway collision in Sandoval County.

KRQE-TV in Albuquerque reports (https://bit.ly/1VnlHrC) the crash happened at 10 a.m. Friday on US 550.

County deputies say a vehicle going northbound and one going southbound collided after one crossed the center lane.

Investigators say two men and a woman died.

A fourth person was airlifted to a hospital in critical condition.

Deputies did not say which victim was in which car.

They were all wearing seat belts and were trapped inside the vehicles.

The highway was shut down for about six hours.

Investigators do not know if speed or alcohol contributed to the incident.

The victims’ identities have not been released.
