NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Family and friends of about 200 Arkansas National Guard members gathered at Camp Robinson in North Little Rock to see the soldiers off for a nine-month deployment.

The members of the 77th Combat Aviation Brigade left Friday for Fort Hood, Texas, where they’ll spend 45 to 60 days training before going to Kuwait and other parts of the Middle East.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/24di8Vr) group will be part of a security operation involving several countries in an effort to stabilize the region.

The National Guard says the operation is part of a partnership the United States has reached with Kuwait.
