IONIA, Iowa (AP) - Authorities have identified a man who drowned at a quarry near the Little Cedar River in northern Iowa earlier this week.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports (https://bit.ly/1Wsrq0r ) that 18-year-old Christopher Lee Balvanz, of Hawkeye, drowned Wednesday at Chickasaw Park, which sits about two miles west of Ionia.

Rescuers were called to the park Wednesday night for reports of a missing person. A dive team discovered Balvanz’s body around 3 p.m. Thursday.

The newspaper says Balvanz was born in Waterloo and was a senior at Sumner-Fredericksburg High School.

The investigation into Balvanz’s drowning continues.
