JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - A lockdown at the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman has been lifted.

Mississippi corrections officials say visitation and other privileges have been reinstated for inmates at Units 29 and 30 at the prison.

The lifting of the lockdown was announced on Friday by the Mississippi Department of Corrections. Officials say they lifted the lockdown after finishing an investigation into inmate-on-staff assaults and the infiltration of contraband into the prison.

The two units house more than 2,000 inmates.
