PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Rhode Island has prepared for Memorial Day weekend by stocking its ponds and rivers with 6,000 trout.

The state Department of Environmental Management says it stocked 20 ponds and rivers with the fish.

It’s reminding anglers that anyone who wants to fish trout in the state needs a current fishing license and a Trout Conservation Stamp. The daily limit is five.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service estimates there are 175,000 recreational anglers ages 16 and up in Rhode Island.
