COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say the director of recreation in Richland County has been charged with several drug trafficking offenses.

Richland County deputies told media outlets that 38-year-old James Anthony Brown was arrested Friday at a home near an elementary school in the northeast part of the county.

Investigators say he had more than 10 pounds of marijuana along with nearly a pound of methamphetamines and ecstasy. Brown faces nine separate charges, and it wasn’t known if he had an attorney.

Brown is the director of recreation for the Richland County Recreation Commission. His father, James Brown III, runs the commission, which is being investigated for financial irregularities by deputies and state and federal agents.
