TULSA, Okla. (AP) - A Tulsa County jury has convicted a Tulsa man of first-degree murder in the shooting death of a 14-year-old girl as she rode in a pickup truck with her family on the Gilcrease Expressway.

The jury on Friday found 21-year-old David Ruble II guilty of first-degree murder in the May 2014 shooting of April Montano. Ruble was also convicted of attempted robbery and conspiracy and the jury recommended he be sentenced to life in prison.

Sentencing is scheduled for July 25.

Montano was shot in the head while she and her family were riding in the pickup. Prosecutors say Ruble and two other men with him were trying to stop the truck so they could steal the all-terrain vehicles on a trailer the truck was pulling.
