PHOENIX (AP) - Police say a man found dead near a field in south Phoenix is a homicide victim.

Sgt. Trent Crump says a resident walking home in the area of 83rd Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road on Saturday morning discovered the body face-down near an alfalfa field.

The resident and his mother called 911.

Firefighters and officers pronounced him dead.

Crump told KPHO-TV (https://bit.ly/1UdclcF) that the body had “obvious signs of trauma.”

The victim is described as Hispanic.

His identity has yet to be determined.

Police want anyone with information to come forward by contacting the department or Silent Witness.
