MINOT, N.D. (AP) - A jet car that can go from zero to 400 mph in less than nine seconds is coming to Minot in August.

The Minot Daily News reports (https://bit.ly/1TXpt64 ) that Bill Braack is bringing his Smoke-n-Thunder JetCar to Minot Air Force Base for Northern Neighbors Day on Saturday, Aug. 13.

5th Bomb Wing Commander Col. Jason Armagost says Braack uses a drag parachute, much like with B-52s. The jet car is equipped with a 12,000-horsepower engine.

Armagost says it’s hard to imagine how cool the jet cars are. He says people have never seen anything like them.

Braack, of SilverLake, Washington, is a 20-year-veteran of the Air Force Reserve.
