LEXINGTON, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say two people found dead in a burning home were stabbed before the blaze was intentionally set.

Lexington County deputies said in a news release that a man who did yardwork for the victims has been charged with murder and arson.

Investigators said Brenda Posey and Harry Smith were found dead after firefighters put out the blaze Thursday morning at the home just off Interstate 20 outside Lexington.

Sheriff’s office spokesman Adam Myrick says Robert Johnson argued with Posey and Smith, then stabbed them and set the fire. Myrick says Johnson did odd jobs for the victims.

Johnson was arrested Saturday in Florence. It wasn’t known if he had a lawyer.
