LAWTON, Okla. (AP) - The trial of a Lawton man charged in the shooting deaths of his father and brother is to begin.

The trial of 20-year-old Thorsten Rushing on two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of conspiracy is to begin Tuesday in Comanche County District Court.

Rushing has pleaded not guilty. The Lawton Constitution reports (https://bit.ly/1qVwrRh ) that the state is seeking the death penalty.

Prosecutors say Rushing killed Uwe Rushing and 14-year-old Stefan Rushing in January 2014.

Two co-defendants have pleaded guilty to murder charges in the case and are serving life in prison. Two other co-defendants are in prison after pleading guilty to conspiracy and being accessories after the crime.

Witnesses testified at a preliminary hearing that Rushing may have been motivated by money from his father’s life insurance policy.
