SHAPLEIGH, Maine (AP) - Maine wardens say a boater who fell overboard was run over and killed by the vessel piloted by his twin brother.

Authorities say 31-year-old Shapleigh resident Jeff Beattie was riding in the bow of a 17-foot motorboat on Mousam Lake in Shapleigh when he fell overboard. His twin brother was piloting the boat.

The two men were accompanied by their spouses and a friend when the accident occurred Saturday night.

Wardens say Beattie was pulled back into the boat and flown to Maine Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
