OXFORD, Mass. (AP) - Authorities say a car that was struck by another vehicle in Oxford hit two pedestrians on a sidewalk, killing one of them and leaving the other in critical condition.

A preliminary police investigation shows the operator of a Lexus lost control of the vehicle late Monday morning and struck a Toyota Corolla. The Corolla then hit two pedestrians.

The Worcester County district attorney’s office says 53-year-old Oxford resident Daniel Sullivan died at the scene. Fifty-two-year-old Andover resident Gina Capello was taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester and is in critical condition.

The driver of the Lexus and the passengers in the Corolla were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
