BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - Gov. Jack Dalrymple has directed all state agencies to fly the American and North Dakota flags at half-staff until noon in recognition of Memorial Day.

The governor’s order is in accordance with a proclamation by President Barack Obama. Dalrymple also is calling on state residents to observe Obama’s request that Americans unite in prayer at 11 a.m. local time and observe a moment of silence at 3 p.m. local time.

The National Guard is hosting the annual Memorial Day ceremony at the North Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery south of Mandan. It begins at noon.
