DENVER (AP) - Gov. John Hickenlooper and a high-ranking official from Canada will speak at a Memorial Day service at a military cemetery in Denver.

Canadian Governor General David Johnston will join Hickenlooper and congressman Mike Coffman at Fort Logan National Cemetery Monday.

The ceremony starts at 11 a.m.

The governor general is the queen of England’s representative in Canada and serves as Canada’s non-partisan, non-political head of state.

While in Colorado, Johnston will also visit the headquarters of the North American Aerospace Defense Command at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs. NORAD is a joint U.S.-Canada command that defends the skies and monitors ocean approaches for both nations.
