JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Jackson leaders say they are still forming a partnership with a city in West Africa.

However, Tuesday’s signing ceremony to formalize the “sister city” relationship has been cancelled because of travel delays by the delegation from M’Bour (uhm-BOOR’), Senegal.

Jackson Mayor Tony T. Yarber will be joined by community, state and international partners in hosting a delegation from M’Bour this week.

The delegation will include Mayor El Hadji Falou Sylla and senior counselor at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Fode’ Seck.

A sister city relationship is designed to further economic development. It also opens avenues for educational and cultural exchanges.
