STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. (AP) - Police say an 18-year-old Snellville man has been arrested in the shooting death of a homeless man who had been living out of his car.

Gwinnett County Police Cpl. Collin Flynn says Robert Purcell was found dead in the car on Saturday after his co-workers at a Snellville Marco’s Pizza location reported the 40-year-old missing. Flynn says police arrested Tremaine Washington on Sunday afternoon and believe he was trying to rob Purcell.

Washington has been charged with aggravated assault and felony murder and is being held at the Gwinnett County Jail. Online jail records do not indicate if he has an attorney.

Flynn says Purcell’s co-workers told police that he usually parked his car behind the pizza restaurant. They reported him missing when the car was not there on Saturday.
