NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Investigators are looking for the car that struck and killed a 16-year-old boy as he walked in the bicycle lane on a North Charleston street.

Authorities told media outlets that Davon McNeil was hit around 5 a.m. Saturday as he walked near the old Charleston Naval Complex.

Police say a green Pontiac was seen driving away from the collision without stopping. Investigators say it likely has significant damage to the front bumper and windshield.

The Charleston County Coroner’s Office says McNeil died from a head injury at the hospital a short time after the wreck.
