YORK, Pa. (AP) - Rescue crews say they’ve pulled one person safely from the Susquehanna River but were still looking for another person who reportedly went into the water off a central Pennsylvania island.

The Eagle Fire Company reported two people needed to be rescued about 10 p.m. Monday near Ely Island. That’s near York.

Emergency dispatchers say one person was found and brought to shore, but the other person could not be immediately found or rescued.

Dispatchers say the call came in as a reported assault. Details on how that related to the people entering the river were not immediately clear.

It’s not known whether anybody has been or will be charged in connection with the incident.
