SEATTLE (AP) - Firefighters rescued two window washers after their equipment apparently stopped working in downtown Seattle.

The Seattle Fire Department tweeted Tuesday afternoon that firefighters were called after a mechanical failure stranded two people cleaning windows on a building 23 floors up.

Firefighters say they went to the roof of the building at 1600 Seventh Avenue and used harnesses and ropes to rappel down and then helped the workers rappel down to the street.

No injuries were reported.
